Celebrating Momma

Mr Tech Guy can't keep secrets or surprises under wraps so as soon as he'd buy a gift, he'd sneak it to me.

Like this...

All week long.

Nail polish, professional grade cuticle trimmers, two bouquets of flowers, The Honest Toddler Book... Daredevil even had Nene go shopping for him!

and this.

A new Coach purse.

On Mother's Day all that was left were cards :) It was so funny. And Daredevil's beautiful artwork for me!

We were planning a get-away to Door County but I woke up in the middle of the night Thursday morning and promptly told Mr Tech Guy we shouldn't go. So we didn't, and boy I'm so glad we didn't. Daredevil is sick and we haven't slept in a long time. Ear infections and pink eye. So on Mother's Day I was up all night with the little guy and we ended the day in Urgent Care. :(

We did manage to have a fun and productive weekend.

Children's Museum - sorry these are blurry, Daredevil can't keep still there

Farmer's Market - Daredevil got a dino cookie and Mr Tech Guy got popcorn

I am beyond blessed. I feel so cherished and so celebrated. I hope all moms felt that way.

The One That Almost Got Away...

My dear, sweet. lovable, loud, bossy, stubborn, strong-willed, energetic Benton. My sweet guy that almost got away because he refused to get along with Daredevil. I am so glad he changed his ways and adapted. We sure love our boys.

I seriously can't tell you how neat it has been to watch Benton's transformation. Look what I found this morning while we had our morning Mickey. (Yes, my kid gets a Mickey in the morning, typically one in the afternoon/after nap, and one before bed. Judge me all you want. When I had to pump it was the only thing that kept his attention while he played or jumped so now he likes it a few times a day. It works for us, Mickey is charming and educational, and Daredevil LOVES Pluto.)

They are most definitely hugging each other. Truly hugging each other. Awesome mom-moment just in time for Mother's Day. Ben is not the dog he's usually snuggled up to.

Here's a funny video of Benton. It should make you laugh. I love sneaking in these little brain teasers for him.

My sweet guy. I am so blessed to have four awesome boys in my life.

Recap

Still attempting to run... still can't run past 3 minutes at a time.... slow going but at least I'm going. My asthma flared up so I had to scale back for a bit. Phin got to go with me a few times this week, too. He did great... I'm still surprised!

When does running get easier??

We fit in some play time at the park last weekend, too.

Where's Uncle N?

Peek-a-boo!

I've been working on getting my yard in order now that it's dry outside (except today... rain, again!). Flower boxes done, lillies planted, hostas planted, ferns up, stars back up, flag up, chairs out, etc. Next up is mulching and chopping down dead trees, bushes, shrubs (I already dug out two). Weed Man will be here next week.

Still reading... currently reading four books... Looking for Alaska, Interrupted, Between the Lines and Bossypants. I never do this but somehow now I have. I need to knock them out. I have a list stack a mile long of books to be read. That is NOT INCLUDING my book club books.

Our garden opens May 22nd... can't come soon enough. My tomato starts have been ordered and everything else is just waiting... and waiting and waiting... I can't wait!

I've grabbed some awesome yard sale/thrift finds lately. I found a Learning Tower for Daredevil. I don't know what we did without it. He loves it and I love that he can really help me clean veggies, stir water, make dinner, etc. I also found a kangaroo climber that I attempted to spray paint. I picked a light color to paint it. Not my smartest moment. I've spent more on paint than the climber but I'm about to call it good. Daredevil isn't going to care. I also found a wagon that we can use in the back yard to play in and then pick up our outdoor toys. Good thrifting lately.

Before

Now

Daredevil does not enjoy learning rules and boundaries. Like holding hands with an adult while walking. It's an uphill and constant battle. His new trick is trying to bite my hand off when I'm holding his hand.

Lots of bruises, bumps and scuffed knees right now. I never want to forget his first scraped knee. Gosh, I love these chunky legs.

Hipster. 'Nuff said.

Party Time

This weekend was also Mr Tech Guy and Twin's birthday party. They said they didn't want a party, but I think they ended up having a fun time. A lot of their friends came and our family, too. The house was packed. The weather didn't cooperate until after the party was over. We still had a lot of fun.

I put 30 candles on the cake for each of them. It may have been a little much. I think it was awesome.

Potentially a fire hazard, but awesome.

Some lovely people...

Even the balloons partied hard.

I even made a banner out of Lego paper and gaming controllers paper.

Ollie celebrated his birthday the same day and he got Papa John's breadsticks and a special treat for dessert as well as a long ride.

Cinco de Mayo Done Right

My friend won a Qdoba House Party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. How fun to get to celebrate with everyone.

Great friends, great food, great freebies!

He loved playing on all of Devin's toys! We all had a great time and it was nice to meet everyone's "others." It was a great way to end the weekend.

The Big 3-0, The Dirty Thirty

Happy 30th birthday, Mr Tech Guy and Twin!
