My Daredevil is growing up! We were a co-sleeping family until early September but I didn't want to say anything for fear I'd jinx our progress. But, I tell you. We really waited until he was ready and the transition was SUPER easy.
It is safe to say that I'm having a much harder time sleeping without him than vice versa. It doesn't hurt that Benton sleeps with him everynight so he still has a cuddle bug. Well, I still have Phin but I'm used to Daredevil AND Phin. I will get used to it. I will.
But he loves it. He's all over his bed.
PJs on for naptime and bedtime, lights off, nightlight on, sound machine on, fan on high, cover with two blankies, kisses and prayers and he is ready. He has a sippy cup nearby if he needs it and then I leave. I turn on the monitor to make sure he's ok. If he does hop up, I put him back down with more kisses, but normally he's great unless he gets over-tired which does happen.
I'm just so proud of him, and me. He is loving his giant bed and his new bedtime routine.

Ketchup, Pickles and Chocolate!
This kid of mine is the funniest. He does the absolute goofiest stuff.
I hope I always remember his sweaty little hand gripping my finger as he leads me around, his face/fingers/clothes always faintly smelling of ketchup, pickles and chocolate, and the way he stomps his feet and says, "ME ME ME ME ME ME ME," when he isn't getting what he wants. Oh, 18 months was awesome but 19 months is proving to be very awesome, too.
My little rule-breaking Daredevil. Love him.

The Time-Out Chair
I've been looking for some no nonsense chair for a time-out chair. About a month ago, I found these beauties in someone's gardbage. I circled back and snagged them for our time-out chairs. One man's trash is another's treasure.
Plain, small, collapsible, easy to move (downstairs, out back, etc) and kind of cute, too. And, free. What?? Perfect for us.
I know, I know. Surely Daredevil doesn't ever need a time-out chair. I'll admit, it is fairly rare but he does occasionally need it.
However, since Gammy and Grandpa arrived I think he's forgotten what the time-out chair is actually for.
Oh boy! This kid is something else.
Here are some of the things we've been working on this week....
Sweets
Cuteness
Independence
Crispidity
Brights
More to come. Have a great weekend!

Crafty Mommas: Craft Night In #2
Another night of crafting awesomeness. Let me tell you, we know how to craft and have a good time while doing it!
We made lipgloss and an assortment of headbands! Super quick, easy, cheap and fun. It was nice to create and ear and drink and chat all around my kitchen table. My kind of awesome.

The group decided to keep it going past our summer fling, and I'm stokked!
And, because you haven't seen Daredevil in a few days!
Oh, and I've had requests to show how large my zucchinis are... you know I've peaked your curiosity now.

What a Boy Wants
My son is a boy who knows exactly what he wants, when he wants it, where he wants it and how he wants it. And he ain't afraid to show you...
When at the park the other morning, we were playing and having a good time. We'd been playing for about a half hour when he climbed up to the second level, ran down the entire wrap around 2-story playground, grabbed my hand, marched me to the car and attempted to open the car door. I guess it was time to go.
Daredevil is known to fight bedtime so normally he can stay up until someone makes it be bedtime. One night, about quarter til 9pm, I was getting his bedtime stuff ready -- fresh blankie, fresh sippie cup, etc -- and he comes up behind me in the hallway, grabs his new blankie, goes to bed and lays on the floor right beside the bed. Mr Tech Guy couldn't believe it when I told him.
He used to bring you his book or his shoes to show you what he wanted (to go outside or have music or story-time). Now, he just grabs you and pulls until you get up and follow him to where/what it is that he wants.
I think it is awesome to see his interests come out. He is such a character. It really cracks me up. He definitley knows what a boy wants!

Only mine.
Only my child. Seriously.
He loves to drink some unsweet tea.
He loves to bite down and pull the straw out even more.
And then try to shove it back in the most.
He could really rock a McD commercial.

This is 16 months...
Daredevil is just as awesome as ever at 16 months. His vocabulary is rapidly growing. He talks in sentences that he thinks I should understand, but I don't. He's as happy-go-lucky and laid back as ever. He does show his temper when he's tired, hungry (sound like anyone we know) or doesn't want to come inside. This boy would live out on our deck or balcony if we'd let him... but being the awful mom I am, I won't let him. Go figure. But really, life is fun. Full of sunscreen, bug spray, sweat, and action. Wouldn't change a thing.
Daredevil has realized that waving typically gets a response from another person. So he waves all the time now, just to get people to wave back. It's pretty hilarious. He also waves his body side to side to see who is silly enough to do that back to him, too. A lot of people do it amazingly. He was waving and shaking his body tonight at dinner. I tried to get it on film but I was too zoomed in. Here's his cute but dirty face anyway.
Daredevil can climb jungle gyms and go down the slide by himself (with my assistance and supervision). This was right after the very first time he did it! It was at the Dream Park in Fitchburg which has had a freshening up recently. He had a blast in tot town but what's new.
We had our first code brown in the bath the last night. I thought it was a piece of dog food. Nope, dingleberry. Disinfecting city over here last night. Ut-oh.
Daredevil is almost too tall for his car but we still play with it and ride in it all the time. He just opts to drag his feet.
He is finally really into toys. For the longest time he really wasn't but it has kicked in. He can play with his trucks and blocks for-ever. He also loves playing ball... inside, outside, with Benton, by himself, with me... he's not picky there either.
The only stuffed animals he isn't scared of (aside from the Pluto he sleeps with) are the ones you're looking at. It's kind of hilarious to see him get so freaked out over a toy but he does.
Daredevil loves to read. He loves Eric Carle, but who doesn't, right? He also loves any books that he can interact with. Pull the tab, push the button, feel the texture. You can tell people who write toddler books have been around the block themselves.
And the boy is independent. And fast. He likes to do everything on his own. Not gonna lie, it feels like we got here a little too quick. He surely needs me for more that diaper changes and bedtime.
He does occasionally throw a tantrum but when it's an actual tantrum he normally throws his head back and screams a soundless scream. It's kind of funny actually. I think he thinks it'll help him get his way. Oh, kiddo, I love you. But we have started time out for major security breeches. He doesn't like it but he does straighten up. I'm a pretty chill mom so he knows if he gets a time out, he messed up.
Oh the joys of toddlerhood. It really is awesome. He is the coolest, most awesomest dude. He's got a playdate with his cousins tomorrow and he couldn't be more excited... and, well, neither can I.
